about me:greetings, fellow earthling. my name is alex brandmeyer. i'm 27 years old, and live in nijmegen, the netherlands. here, i work as a research technician/junior researcher at the donders institute for brain, cognition, and behavior. san diego, california was my home until the age of 16... i then lived in the east san francisco bay for 7 years while attending uc berkeley and afterwards while working at the speech and hearing research program with pierre divenyi. in 2004 i moved to western massachusetts, where i spent a year helping my parents with a historical rennovation project (click here for more info). in august 2005 i began my work here in nijmegen as part of the practice space project. we have been developing and evaluating methods for real-time visualization of music performances to be used in musical education. in april 2009 i'll begin work on a new project which will serve as the basis for my phd research. our goal is to develop brain-activity based biofeedback methods which help users to learn new languages and musical skills. in addition to my research, i like to make music, take photos, and to travel. you can find some of my music and dj mixes on this website. some things i like: |
